David Melvin Rallying are using a Vauxhall Nova with a 1600 cc engine to contest the 2005 Scottish Tarmack Rally Championship.

Car specification :-

Shell

Seam welded and strengthened Vauxhall Nova, lightweight fibreglass bonnet and boot, tinted perspex side and rear windows

Suspension

Front 2 1/4 adjustable Bilstein struts with eccentric alloy top mounts, rear Bilsteins, rear super progressive tarmac springs. Pilbeam bottom arms, tie rods and brackets

Brakes

Group A AP alloy 4 pot callipers, vents and alloy bells at front, Group A disc braked rear beam with AP alloy 2 pots, alloy hubs. Bias adjustable pedal box. Hydraulic hand brake

Engine

Martin Bowyer built 1600 8v with Omega pistons, worked head and solid lifters. Running on Jenvey throttle bodies with MBE956 electronic management system. 4 branch exhaust manifold and competition system.

Transmission

Quaife 5 speed dog gearbox with ZF limited slip differential, Group A drive shafts and hubs

Safety Equipment

Safety devices bolted in roll cage, Motordrive professional seats, TRS 6 point aircraft belts, Lifeline electric plumbed in and hand held fire extinguishers. 10 mm alloy sump guard and steel fuel tank guard. Aeroquip internal fuel lines. Peltor intercom and Terratrip ARC trip meter with remote.

Wheels and Tyres

Compomotive alloy competition wheels and Dunlop wet, dry or intermediate tyres to suit conditions.

Car Preparation :-

Preparation of the car between events and all on event servicing is carried out by Andrew Wood Motorsport. Based in the Scottish borders, near Melrose, Andrew Wood has twice won the Scottish Rally Championship and has a wealth of experience with a wide variety of rally cars.
